Need help with removing faulty smoke detector

Hi lovely people, my flat’s smoke detector has been giving off singular beeps even though there is no smoke. It would stay quiet for random hours after I reset it (click on the middle button) and then start beeping again with no apparent cause. Google is saying that the error is due to battery problems but this thing seems to run on AC power (it says so in front of the detector). I tried jabbing the middle part with the lever mechanism with a screwdriver but it wouldn’t come off. My housemate tried to pull from the front as I kept the screwdriver there at the lever, but it seems like the whole thing will fall off if we commit. Please help, haven’t been sleeping right because of this thing.
