Eurovision Running Order Positions that have won the Grand Final
Out of curiosity, I researched the running orders of every Grand Final to see which positions have won. Everyone's always been saying how much of a curse positions 2nd and 16th are, so I wanted to see what other info I could gather.
Here are some things I've learnt from this study:
* 3 winning entries were performed first, "Ding-a-dong", "Save Your Kisses For Me" and "Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley". Interestingly, they are some of the most famous winning songs in the contest's history.
* 6 winning songs were performed last in their respective finals.
* Position 17th has the most winners out of any position, which includes 2 of Ireland's seven-winning songs, "Hard Rock Hallelujah", and arguably the most famous winning song of them all, "Euphoria".
* Positions 4th, 6th, 7th and 23rd each have one winning song.
* The four winners of the 1969 contest performed in 3rd, 7th, 8th and 14th respectively.
* In addition to positions 2nd and 16th not having a winner, 25th and 26th are yet to see a victory. 27th will remain unclaimed forever, as it was only included in the 2015 contest to occupy Australia's special guest slot.
* 37 of the 72 winning songs were performed in just the first half of the list alone, the other 35 come from the second half. For those obsessed with numbers, that's 51.38% of winners from 1st-13th, and the other 48.61% from 14th-27th.
