Legal to park where the red & white cars are?

I work at a warehouse that has two front gates, the first (on the left) is opened daily and used for access, but the second gate (in front of where the red & white cars are parked) is permanently closed, Hasn’t been unlocked in years, and we have been parking in those two spots in front of the gate for at least a decade. One of my staff just got a ticket for parking in front of the permanently closed gate. It’s an industrial area and there is no footpath being crossed. Would it be possible to fight this one or just gotta take it on the chin and park inside from now on?
