Advice on interdigital cysts

What about it?

Hey! Just wondering if anyone has ever had anything similar to this? Our boy is a 4 and a half year old lab and basically he gets cysts/lumps in between his toes. It’s been happening on and off for the past year and the vets never seem to give us answers. He’s been on antibiotics, we clean it daily with hibiscrub and he’s had a steroid injection. The vet offered to put him on a full course of steroids but I really don’t want him to gain weight, which they said he would. He’s lost over 13kgs over the past 18 months so I don’t want to put him through that again. The vet has suggested allergies but hasn’t actually tested for anything. They seems to just pop up overnight as he didn’t have any yesterday, now he has this on his front right paw. At its worst he had them on every paw and it was clearly uncomfortable for him out on our walks. We’ve had an intolerance test done on him and he has a fair few deficiencies - biotin, lecithin, Vitamin B2 and C. Not sure if that has anything to do with it but thought it might be helpful. Thanks in advance

He sunbathes in 90 degree weather

What about it?

Charlie is a German Shepard mix with VERY thick and long black hair. No doubt he gets overheated very quickly. He would lay down in the sun for hours if we didn't call him inside. When we do call him in, he'll complain and refuse to come inside without us dragging his butt inside. Is my boy missing some sort of nutrients or is he just dumb and likes to overheat in the sun. He's known for some dumb behavior, but should he know to not lay in the sun for too long? I don't think this is a big issue but are there any tips to convince him to go inside without food? He's just my little stubborn boy.

Strange Behavior

What about it?

My boy hasn’t seemed himself this morning. During his walk this morning, he seemed normal, in high spirits, but when we came back, his tail was down (very unusual for him), and just now, he seemed to be drooling a bit (I’ve never seen him do this before). He’s the family dog and I don’t usually do the vet upkeep stuff, so I’m feeling really out of my depth if there’s something really wrong. Other than the things I’ve listed, he doesn’t seem to be in active distress, he just seems sad, but he also just kind of looks like that so I don’t know if I’m just projecting or something. The photo is just because he’s a good boy.

Help giving my elderly chihuahua his oral syringe medication

What about it?

Hello! First time poster because I haven’t found any good tips yet to help. Picture of the handsome man for visibility. My 12 year old Chihuahua just got diagnosed with kennel cough and was given two oral syringe medications, Doxycycline and a Hydrocod-Homa Syrup(cough syrup). I was able to mix the cough syrup in with a little wet food and he ate that up no problem. Now here is my issue, the Doxycycline, I’m assuming it tastes horrible by his reaction so the cough syrup plan won’t work. Some backstory though, this little guys has had a rough life. Chronic seizures since 4 months old and last year he had a cluster of seizures that were so bad he injured his neck and was temporarily paralyzed for about 2 weeks. I attempted to restrain him and just shoot it to the back of his mouth, but he fights me really hard. He also doesn’t have any teeth, so holding his mouth open is very difficult because there is no leverage and he can just slip out. Biggest thing though is he flails his head around so I can’t get access to his mouth. I don’t want him to re-injure his neck and/or re-paralyze himself just to get him to take his medicine, but he also needs this medication so he doesn’t develop pneumonia. Any advice on how I can make this process as least traumatic as possible for the both of us would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, A desperate dog mom

What is this?

What about it?

My girl tends to scratch her ear by flapping it and this has resulted. I’ve been doing a warm compress on it for as long as she’ll let me - usually 2-4 minutes.

Bump on right back leg. What is it?

What about it?

Dog did a loud yelp at Farmers Market, carried her to car, and when she got out of car, yelped once more. Once inside she’s been fine - no limping or anything. Noticed a bump/lump on her back right hind leg - near knee/where it bends. Is this a hygroma (previous surgery in that area)? Is it something more? If pressure is applied, she makes a quick move to lick my hand.

Rattlesnake bite

What about it?

Hello everyone! Thank God Jax is alive. He was bit by a rattlesnake last night. He is my mother's best friend. She was in shambles and I never slept. I don't even know if I'm typing okay. She took him to the cloesest vet which was 45min away in Moab, and he had to stay overnight. He is doing well...however, he still has a large swelling in his jaw area. Being from the East coast, we really don't have any experience with this issue. I was curious if anyone does? Is there any tip for helping with the swelling or pain at all? The vet wasn't the most helpful when she asked.. My momma just wants him to be a little more comfortable than he is right now.
