“They Don’t Need a Tip, They Get Most of the Delivery Fee Anyway!”

What about it?

For those of you who order through DoorDash and assume the delivery driver receives the majority of the delivery fee (as I did prior to becoming a driver), you are mistaken. This was the 2nd time this order popped up on the app by the time I took the screen shot. The first time the guarantee was for $3.50. On any given day, without tips, a driver will only receive the base pay, which is typically between $2.00 and $3.50 per delivery. If you appreciate the convenience DoorDash (and other delivery services) affords you, and you don’t want to see an increase in drivers who are rude, incompetent, and disrespectful, (as a result of customer service focused drivers no longer making enough to justify their position) including a tip would only serve to help you in the long run. Just a thought.

DD Cancelled my 9-pizza Little Caesars delivery due to an unresponsive customer.

What about it?

This is a good reminder to keep your phone close by and to be available when you have a delivery on the way. Customer ordered 9 pizzas and 2 garlic cheese breads to be delivered to a large city park. Their only instruction: “in the park, near restrooms.” I arrived to their GPS coordinates and called to let them know I was waiting where they had instructed. No answer after three calls and numerous texts. Contacted support, who asked if I could “leave somewhere safe and take a picture” to which I responded “I’m in a city park, they’re either going to be stolen or eaten by critters.” Moments later, DD cancels the delivery, leaving me with half the pay and a criminal amount of free pizzas. I live in a neighborhood with a high concentration of homelessness, so I drove around delivering to those who really needed it (kept one pie for my wife and I to enjoy for dinner later). After about 20 minutes of this, out of nowhere, customer starts repeat-calling my phone. I didn’t answer. Order has been cancelled at this point and it’s no longer my problem. They will have to take it up with support (good luck with that)

Dude tipped $0 for a 20 minute trip

What about it?

Took 16 minutes to drive to the guys house from the place he ordered from and he tipped $0. I could understand a little more if the order was a few minutes from his house but I have to drive over 30 minutes to get there and back for no tip?

How do y’all feel bout these type of contactless deliveries(contact to arrange drop off)?

What about it?

I personally do not like em. I have the address. So I just leave at door. How y’all feeling?
