Slime mold? Portland, OR

What about it?

There are a few of these patches in our yard and at first I thought it was vomit from our neighbor’s cat but their cat eats kibble, not wet food. I sprayed it with the hose and it’s black underneath so now I think it’s a fungus of some sort. Only growing on our wood chips which are mostly Douglas Fir and some maple. Could it be a slime mold?

I've removed it with a mold remover spray. We live in the UK and it's meant to be my daughter's bedroom but I don't feel comfortable with this at all. Thank you
