Are we the hero of the universe’s story? This concept seems ego-heavy. (Carl Sagan)

What about it?

The idea and concept that our conscious ability to question our own existence is a result of gases evolving into a state to try to understand itself is both beautiful and idealistic. Narcissistic even. To think that we are the attempt of an entire universe to understand itself. Fun idea though. Fun to think about. We are the hero of the universe’s story. No wonder Carl Sagan sold so many copies. Very clever way to somehow many the most humbling concept (infinite cosmos) be about us.
