That moment when your son gets his first job

What about it?

Fighting through 20 years of anxiety, depression, and body dysmorphia, but I finally went back to the dentist for the first time in two decades. I’ve been three times in the past 8 days for full exam, X-rays, scaling and cleaning, and now I’m sitting very numb in my jaw with three fillings in the teeth I’ve almost destroyed over the years of neglect. I’m getting married next week. I wanted my smile to look the best it could for my beautiful bride. I’m a bit sad that it won’t be quite the smile I dreamed of, but at least it’s an improvement, and I won’t have to hide my teeth when we’re getting pictures done. I cannot believe how supportive the staff were at the dental office. I was extremely anxious about judgmental comments but they were all so supportive. I can’t say enough good things about their help. I’ve done all I can for the wedding, and hopefully I can get more work done next year when I can afford it, but I’m proud I was able to get through that fear of returning to the dentist. So my thanks to that whole team for — literally — making me smile again. If you’re in the same boat I was in — you can do it too. You’ll feel so much better after you go. Don’t put it off another day. Thank you. Sorry, I just wanted to celebrate a small win for myself and also show some appreciation to all the fine dental professionals out there. You’re the best.
