Bought this iron cross earring and now everyone thinks I’m a Nazi

I bought this while ago n wore it for like 2 months straight. On the website it said crusader cross so I was like cool it looks pretty gothic n I like it. Ppl were telling me I shouldn’t wear it once or twice during then and I was like what’s wrong with wearing crusader cross? Recently I found out it’s one of the symbols nazis used. I felt so bad bc one of my jewish co worker usually brought up how her distant relatives were victims of the holocaust and how it affected her family but never had the heart to tell me straight up. How do I even go about explaining myself to ppl that I’m not a nazi?
