Fixing center slit in dress

Marking NSFW just to be safe. I just bought this beautiful dress from someone on Offerup with the intention of wearing it to a fantasy ball event. It fits perfectly but the slit is making me nervous. It naturally lies right down the middle; i can adjust the dress a bit to have it go down one of my legs (like in the photo) but with the design, it looks a little weird. I never wear dresses so i am at a loss for what to do- should i take it in to be altered? Use tape? Thanks!

Hello! It’s been kinda chilly in Denmark lately, so I have been wearing sneakers a lot so I don’t freeze. But I don’t find them the most appealing for every outfit. What do you usually wear that’s comfortable, closed up but still wearable in semi warm weather? For either the outfit shown, a dress, skirt?
