Waterfall sofa table help
Hello folks! I am pretty new to woodworking and am trying my hands on creating a sofa table from the scrap wood I got from around my neighborhood.
The design is pretty close to the attached picture.
I am using two flooring planks joined together as the top surface, with 1/2†melamine boards pinned to the bottom to get width and support the floor joints.
My first iteration was just to butt joints the top and the legs with nails and as you can guess it was pretty flimsy and weak.
I have taken it apart now and am planning to cut miters with my circular saw at the corner and join the legs with glue and dowels.
My question, is that enough to support the top and prevent the table from wiggling? Do I also need to support the top from sagging by attaching a backing board or plank along the length? Do I need corner supports as well?
The table would be hidden behind the couch and the wall and would not have too much stuff. Just cables and things.
Rough dimensions: 48â€x24â€x1.5â€
Thank you!
