Built some Shelves

Just thought I'd ask the question.

I had to drop a tree a day or so ago, found that it looked interesting from the end grain so cut a few 1.5 meter slabs. It's really beautiful and hard as rock so I think it would make a few decent guitar necks. Basically just want the thoughts of those of you who have experience in using fresh cut timber that you've dried/seasoned yourselves with some succes. They are quite thick, at least a couple inches, and in Australia this is called ironbark I think, I do know it's a species of wattle....if that makes any difference. Thanks plenty for any help here.

Ooohweee! These came out pretty darn great, if I do say so myself!

Maple Burl bentwood His&Her rings with blue opal inlay. Few patches on the inlays, but these are for my girlfriend and me!

What kinda wood for my truck?

I bought a shitty old truck for reasons I'll probably regret. But since I pretend to be a woodworker I figure it needs some wood accents. I'm thinking about low-profile rails on the outside and a wood instrument panel inside. What wood would you use? Color is the main consideration. Any recommendations on durable finish are welcome too

Is this doable for a beginner?

I bought my first house and I’ve been wanting a window seat/ reading nook since I was a little girl. I’d like to turn this into a bench that fills the space. Doesn’t have to be fancy at all, don’t need drawers or storage. Ideally I’d like to avoid drilling or damaging the floors. I have extremely minimal experience (think building ikea furniture) and some tools. Is it worth trying myself or should I hire a professional? Any tips?

Need help with crown moulding

I want to add crown moulding to a room with a vaulted ceiling but have this corner to work through and need suggestions on how to manage it. Any thoughts?

How were these carved? This was a practice piece for a neighbor who made replacement rifle stocks by hand in the 1930's. I still have many of his offcuts.

I had one of his gun stocks that was really remarkable. Matched exactly to the Winchester rifle he had.

A Thank You!

I posted about a week ago about being burned out on a project and asking whether I should finish it even though I really didn’t like the way it was turning out. A lot of you encouraged me to finish and gave me some really great advice about how to get moving again. I finished it. I’m still not a fan, but I don’t hate it as much as I thought I did and I’m really glad I finished it. Besides, she loves it and I learned a lot. So … thank you!

Is wood a good building material for this project?

Hi all! I'm making blueprints to build a shelter for my stray kitty I'm trying to care for. I hope to be able to take her inside the near future. She's quite shy so I wanted to make a shelter so she and I can encounter each other more. I want to make the shelter out of wood so it can be nice and durable. It's also gonna double as a stand for plants on the top. It's supposed to be super incognito since I wanna make sure no one knows she's in there so she stays safe. Wood is good for insulating the warmth but I'm worried it'll insulate too much heat. I live in TX so it gets absurdly hot. Does anyone know if wood is a bad idea for a shelter? I'm planning to install a thermometer so I can make sure it's never too hot or cold. I also am gonna get some tile to put in for the hotter weather and a cooling mat.I would love any ideas or suggestions. Thank you!

Was thinking of making this into a pendant, any advice or opinions?
