Build confusion (DPS necromancer)

Necromancer using decompose. Does the DPS also apply to decompose or is that only if I literally smack an enemy with a weapon

Just wrapped up story mode on HC. Picked up Neyrelles letter and noticed the open horadric book off to the right is closed with a red glowing symbol and it's smoking. Wasn't like that before, right? Anyone recognize the symbol? Is it something boring like mephistos sigil or something more?
