Training suggestion for a Gud Girl who won't potty in the rain?
Never really had this before! So apparently I have the world's only TWO Golden's that hate water...
Our older boy doesn't like going outside to potty in the rain, but our newer girl just refuses. I think she's picked it up from my female GSD who hates rain (she was a rescue I picked up from the street literally on deaths door, so I get it). As a puppy she loved water, to the point she'd run down the muddy stream bed in our backyard, but now, when we take her outside to go while it's raining she stops at the first porch landing and refuses.
We always go outside with them when they potty and I can kind of chase her off the porch but she will just sit there and stare willfully at me until I finally concede and let her back inside. Then, of course, she has an accident in the house.
Generally she's done pretty well with her potty training but this is the one spot that just sticks for her.
I was thinking crating her (and my GSD because she does it too, though she's full grown and doesn't have accidents, once she really needs to go she'll run out, go as fast as possible and then run back in), as in take her out, give her a shot, then if she doesn't go, crate her for fifteen or twenty minutes and keep trying until she potties outside? Once she does then let her run and romo in the house.
I'm worried that might create negative feedback on her going outside though, because she HATES her cage unless SHE chooses to go inside, if she chooses it then it's heaven.
