21335 Lighthouse or -The goat
My Review of the LEGO Lighthouse 21335 – A Love Letter to a Masterpiece
Hey there!
I want to convince you—just for a moment—to take a closer look at this set. I know I might sound like the devil’s advocate, but I’m so deeply in love with this lighthouse that I just have to share my thoughts.
Let’s start with the first topic:
PRICE
Price is always a tricky subject. And with this specific set, many people decided that it's just ain't worth it.
$300 for 2065p? That’s too many $ for that many p!
But wait—what about the weight? Yes, the weight!
As it turns out, if you take weight into consideration, this set is not that far off—and sometimes even a better deal!
The Lighthouse weighs 3335g.
The B&B Castle has 2886p, same price, but weighs only 3118g. That’s 217g less!
So technically, you get more plastic per dollar here.
Another example:
Legend of Zelda Tree (77092): 2500p and 3311g — 500p more, but the Lighthouse is still heavier!
Jango Fett’s Starship (75409): $10 more, almost 900p more, but just 140g heavier (≈5oz). That difference almost matches the price bump.
And before you say:
> "But there’s a motor and lights in there—they're heavy!"
Yes! But the motor weighs 34g, the power supply 68g—a total of 102g.
And guess what? The B&B Castle is still lighter.
So, weight-wise, this set is holding its ground.
But honestly, those electrical parts are magical—and they lead us to the next topic:
BUILDING EXPERIENCE
Let me tell you—this was the best LEGO set I’ve ever built.
The way wires are hidden, the way the power supply is tucked away but still accessible when you need to change batteries… absolutely genius.
And then—the parts!
LEGO didn’t try to artificially inflate the piece count. I saw so many places where they could’ve done it, but they didn’t.
The big rock panels (20g × 4) alone show they weren’t trying to fake the numbers. They easily could’ve turned those into 30 smaller parts, but no—they went for quality.
Every third piece in this set is a beast.
I remember thinking while building:
> “Good Lord, these are chunks!â€
And it makes a huge difference. Bigger pieces = more joy. Every piece actually moves the build forward and transforms the scene.
The only part of the build that used lots of small pieces was the Keeper’s House—and it’s perfect. The tiny details like the picture, the letter in the cabinet, the fireplace, the bed… all chef’s kiss.
10/10 building experience, no doubt.
DISPLAY VALUE
This isn’t just another “put it on a shelf†kind of LEGO set.
My wife usually asks me to “put it with the others†when I finish a build. Not this time.
She saw the lights, the compact but striking design, and she asked me to display it in the main view—where guests can actually see it. That never happens.
It’s got this aesthetic charm that’s hard to explain. You just have to see it in person.
CONCLUSION
This set is something else. Something different. I’ve never seen anything quite like it.
Even if the price is 8/10, the building experience is 11/10, and the display value is 11/10.
And—this set is close to retirement.
For the love of God—don’t miss it.
Thanks for reading!
