Review

Combat mixes melee weapons, bows, and simple spells in short, deliberate fights that reward positioning over button mashing; stamina drains quickly, so players must dodge, block, or kite enemies until an opening appears. The world is rendered in chunky, hand-modeled voxels that let you carve caves, stack towers, or flatten valleys on the fly, while a muted color palette and low wind sounds give every misty valley a quiet, eerie tone. The loop suits players who enjoy measured survival tasks-mining, farming, and base-building-more than break-neck action or heavy story.

Grabbed Enshrouded because someone kept insisting it wasn’t just another early access mess. First hour I was already questioning the choice, but the first real fight against a massive corrupted brute made me shut up. He pinned me against a broken wall and I thought it was over, until the timing click on a perfect dodge opened up a backstab window that actually felt earned.

Still, once the adrenaline faded the limits showed. The Shroud pushes you back every few minutes like an invisible timer, so every trip out turns into a sprint to grab what you need before you’re forced to retreat. The skill tree helps, but right now it feels shallow and the resource grind is already starting to feel like padding.

Death only stings when it’s fair, and the one time I got chain-stunned into a pit without any counterplay didn’t feel fair. I’ll keep clearing the next ruined town, but the game’s got a narrow window to prove the combat stays sharp instead of turning into another tedious loop.
