THE FINALS

DFace review of THE FINALS. Filed under Action, Free To Play. Editor rating 8/10.

Players join three-person teams in 3-minute matches where the goal is to cash out large vaults before rivals or the collapsing arena stops them. They choose from light, medium, or heavy builds, equip weapons and gadgets, and destroy or rebuild the map in real time to reach objectives or block opponents. Each round ends with a single surviving team claiming the largest cash total.

Review

Movement and combat favor quick positioning over raw accuracy. Light players zip between rooftops with grapple hooks while heavy teammates anchor doorways with portable cover. Destruction is immediate: a single explosive charge can drop an entire floor, forcing everyone to re-route cash boxes through stairwells or newly opened shafts. Cash-out stations become choke points where teams trade grenades and reconstructed walls in seconds-long fights. Maps are built from modular offices, hotels, and skyscrapers that crumble in different patterns each match. Concrete dust fills corridors after collapses, while neon signage flickers or sparks when supports fail. Footsteps, shattering glass, and distant cash-register chimes stay audible through the noise, letting attentive players track vault carriers two floors away. The loop rewards players who enjoy short, high-stakes rounds and experimenting with class loadouts rather than long campaigns or narrative threads. Squads comfortable coordinating callouts and adapting on the fly gain the most from the format.

Been dragging a bit lately, so I hopped into THE FINALS just to keep my hands moving. The first round went fast. We pried a vault loose, dragged it two floors down, then watched the arena fold in around us.

What stuck with me was a small thing. I tossed a barricade across a stairwell to buy us three extra seconds, and the other team had to punch through it while we were already cashing out below. It wasn’t flashy, but it felt precise.

Still, the pacing feels off once the match drags past those quick opening minutes. After the first cash-out, you spend a lot of time running across half-destroyed floors looking for the next target instead of doing anything meaningful with your loadout. I’d rather the downtime got trimmed than keep adding more gadgets.
