Fearful dog and fearful people
What about it?
So I have a 2y/o pitbull who is fearful and has no confidence. I’ve been trying to socialize her by bringing her to pet friendly stores like pet stores etc but I’ve been running into a problem. She tends to be a bit vocal when overwhelmed by people which is why I’ve been trying to socialize her slowly and I always redirect her attention to me when she starts getting anxious, but due to her being a black pitbull a lot of people are afraid of her and give very bad reactions which in turn causes my dog to get very scared and hide or bark. I’m at a total loss as to what to do at this point any advice?
Last time I went to a pet store my dog did a small bark and a woman ran off screaming something incoherent cause of my dog which scared my dog so bad that all she wanted to do was leave and go into the car. With events like this it’s just making my dog more fearful instead of helping. Anything I can do to make her not so scary looking to people?
