Gravity fields in starmap

What about it?

Gravity must be playing an important role. Gravity fields / lines are visible in the background of the sun and planets in the starmap. Or Will it be just for show and design?

I'm loving the detail of viewing the gravity map along with the star system layout

my guess on romanceable companions.
