My nephew is the most expressive baby I've ever seen.

It’s nothing crazy, but I grew up poor and never had birthday parties. It feels nice to put something together for my kid’s party! I guess it satisfies my inner child.

What about it?

I’m aware it’s material “stuff” but I would have been so thrilled with this as a kid. We did end up saying no gifts for the birthday boy (except from family) and set up a fundraiser for a local scholarship org instead!

We saved a kitten!

What about it?

We went on a canoe trip this weekend and half way down the river we heard meowing. We pulled the canoe over and looked through the brush. We saw the kitten but he wouldn’t come to us. We marked our location and tried once our trip down the river was done. Unsuccessful again! Then we went back this morning with a cat carrier and some kitten food and we were able to successfully bring him home. We’re calling him River.

This out of the blue text from my 69 year old dad definitely made me smile.

What about it?

Hes on an annual weekend golf trip with friends, mostly younger than him, and apparently kicking ass.
