I really hate Pex

What about it?

You may think it's super easy to install, but it's a real pain in the ass when you need to repair/remodel. And it looks like dogshit.

Sump pump tied into house drainage

What about it?

This sump pump was installed in my crawl space a couple of weeks ago. I checked to down there and not only has this pipe detached from where it was pumping to drain, but it this was tied into my houses gray water drainage (kitchen sinks, bathroom sinks, etc), so now there is tons of water in my crawl space. The company who installed it is coming today. My top question. Is it standard/code to tie in a sump pump into the houses drainage system, versus its own drain system?

This is what I found. What I assume used to be an elbow is just completely disintegrated. I know some of you can smell this photo.

Sealing the bottom of toilet tank 🚽

What about it?

I recently installed a bidet and by doing so turned this thing unintentionally resulting in undesired fill valve position causing infinite refill. I had to turn it more so that the tank lever stops interfering with the fill valve. There’s no sign of leaks but I am concerned if messing with this part could lead to one in the future. Wondering if applying a seal around that white thing would help to (hopefully) prevent or (minimum) delay any leaks. Please advise, thank you.

Is there a DIY kit to permanently install a portable dishwasher?

What about it?

Wife and I have a small apartment at my in-laws place. There is no under-counter space for a dishwasher so we have a portable dishwasher that we keep at the end of the counter (about 2' from the center of the sink). The 2-1 connector for the faucet reaches only if the faucet is turned all the way to the left. Since it is all the way to the side, I used epoxy to attach a wall bend to the output of the dishwasher so it goes all the way to the bottom of the sink basin. I would like to install the dishwasher "permanently" so I don't need to mess with the connector anymore; is this possible with or without some sort of kit? How would you do it?

Shower valve questions

What about it?

I’ve installed this once already, using Teflon tape, and the threads leaked. What could I have done wrong? I think I may have overtightened the adapter (how tight should it be?) and/or I melted the Teflon by soldering the adapter to the pipe without wrapping the adapter in a wet cloth first. I want to consult with the experts before reinstalling. Thoughts?
