Cranial cruciate ligament rupture.

What about it?

Hi all! I was wondering if anyone has any advice from experience of a dog rupturing their cruciate? Our Yorkshire terrier has done hers in and the vets are being great but they're not really giving specifics on how to help. She's had blood work done to make sure she's on the right pain meds but were5yet to have x-ray confirmation, just the vet feeling about a bit. They've said rest and relaxation and short on leash walks only. She's 15 so I know surgery isn't going to be an option. We have a crate for her but she's old and was never properly crate trained ( we inherited her when my mum passed) so she doesn't stay still. Especially if we go out she just turns circles in the crate. She can't have treats as she has a very funny tummy and anything too fatty gets brought back up. They also found a heart murmur that no one has ever picked up on before, even though she's had regular check ups, including one just a few days before she had her accident. Any ideas on how to help would be much appreciated. Included puppy tax 🙂

What's your thoughts?

What about it?

I really want to go get this pretty girl. I've been looking for a female dog for a while, and finally have the room, the house and the FENCED yard to do so. I'm already starting to talk myself out of it though because we had a dog, I loved him. He was too much for us to handle, he was a German Shepard mix and he was absolutely insane, I found him the PERFECT home with my friend who was experienced with those kind of dogs, and she had 2 dogs already that adopted him into their "pack" he was 100% a "I need a pack" kind of boy. I tried so hard to make him fit in with us, and make him happy and in the end I did what I thought was best. And he's living his best life. On to this pretty girl here, I'm feeling guilty I guess. Do I deserve a dog after what happened? I mean She's 100% my choice, she would be MINE even tho she will be our "family" dog. Our first dog wasn't my choice and I knew he would be hard, and it was 3+ years ago now, I still cry about it sometimes cause it sucked. I'm not looking for put downs here, I'm looking for logical answers. Anyone else have some similar happen? I want her so bad but I guess I'm afraid of the same thing happening even though I won't let it. Idk

Crusty stuff on my dogs ear.

What about it?

He's a 13 year old Yorkie is pretty good health. He had a red bump on the ear about a week or two ago and it turned into this and now he has one on the other ear too. Does anyone know what it is and how to treat it or prevent it from happening again.

What do you think my dog ate? 💩 (heads up - this is a bit gross!)

What about it?

Took my 1 y/o golden retriever for her usual pre-bedtime toilet. She struggled for about 5 mins before producing this poop. Have no idea wtf she ate or whether I should be concerned. She seems completely normal and no signs of loss of appetite. My partner thinks it could be a sock / part of a sock, but I think it looks like a dead bird. Also pretty sure I can see blood in there?

Don’t know what to do

What about it?

I have a chihuahua who is absolutely adorable but refuses to do her business on the pee pad. I live in an apartment and have a balcony which has some puppy grass for them to use when I’m unable to take them for a walk. I say them because I have another pup who I have no problems with. Inside my apartment there is a designated area for some pee pads. I’ve even spread them out for her to use in case she can’t find a good spot in such a small space. But yet she’ll go to the pads and pee right outside of it onto the carpet. I’ve used some spray to attract her to use the pee pad and have also tried to talk to her about it. I’ll put her on my leg and show her the pee and where she needs to go. I’ve tried what seems like everything except physical harm which WILL NOT happen. She’s too cute to hurt and I do love her. I take her and her sister out for walks 3 times a day just to make sure she doesn’t need to go inside. It’s been 3 years and nothings changed. I’m starting to consider rehoming. Just looking for advice. Feel free to ask anything or if clarification is needed!

If you were born allergic to dogs but spent your entire life around them, would symptoms still exist?

What about it?

For idle context, there's very few, but very very particular things I'm allergic to. But over the years of having various dogs I've noticed I tend to have sinus issues, etc here and there. Would prolonged exposure to something you were meant to be allergic to be able to cause fluid build up in your lungs, etc? (Also no, doctors won't do jack about it, apparently feeling like I'm drowning round the clock isn't life-threatening enough to find a way to drain my lungs. I'm 21, I've dealt with this for over 10 years.)

Moving to a new apartment with my dog on the upper level. She tries to eat the gravel and stuff my neighbors throw off the stairs and I worry about impaction. Is this ok? Has anyone else used one? (8 month old puppy)

Can anyone tell me what this is and how to fix it?

What about it?

This started to show up a little over a week ago and it doesn't seem to both her or atleast she doesn't mess with it around me. Can I get rid of this? And what is it?

can I swap out my dog’s crate (only used at night) for a doggy bed in my closet?

What about it?

hi hi! My pup is a little over a year old. she sleeps in her crate every night and doesn’t mind it at all! however I just moved to a new place and my room is much smaller and the crate doesn’t really fit nicely anywhere. I have roommates so I want her to sleep inside my bedroom. I do however have a free closet - it is about as wide the crate, and a decent bit longer (obviously much taller) but an inch or two too small to actually put her crate inside. She is properly crate and house trained. She is only in her crate at night. My tentative plan is to add a baby gate to the doorway so I can have the closet door open but she’s still confined. Is there a downside to this? Will she become un-crate-trained after a while? Will having more space affect her negatively?

My dog got stung.

What about it?

His nose is a little swollen. I gave him Benadryl. Does that work for allergies in dogs? I’ve heard it doesn’t work, it just makes them sleepy. I’m worried because he had a bad allergic reaction when he was a puppy. I’ll take him to the emergency vet if it gets worse.

Feeling guilty working long hours after divorce. Should I keep the dogs? Details in comments. Thanks in advance for insight.
