DoorDash doesn’t care when you pay for priority

I have seen many people here say paying extra for priority is a waste and it doesn’t change anything, I never believed it and often paid for priority and never noticed anything off. Well yesterday when ordering food I watched on the app as the driver pulled up to the restaurant, left to drive a few miles in the opposite direction and stop at a house for a few minutes to then turn around and drive back to the restaurant and pick up my order. It arrived 30 minutes later than what it originally said it would.
I messaged support asking why the dasher is going the opposite direction after I messaged her and got no answer, support told me even though I paid for priority my order was still batched!
