what could this have been?

i took this gorgeous picture very early this morning at the beach and i’m trying to figure out what that red thing is in the image. i was staring at the sky the entire time the picture was developing and i didn’t see a plane, and i didn’t have my flash on so it couldn’t have been an insect. could this have been a shooting star? if so, what explanation could there be for the odd movement?
