Anyone know what kind of wood this is?
What about it?
Hi guys! Newbie woodworking enthusiast here. I bought an 100 year old home and discovered the solid wood doors. What a gem and also a pain to strip off 100 years of paint! Can anyone tell me what kind of wood this is? I have my guess but want a more solid answer! 😊 Thank you in advance!
What’s going on with this stain?
What about it?
Howdy. Just making some shelves. I sanded the boards with 120 grit. Vacuumed them off. Now I’m testing out stains. Any ideas what’s causing these tiny lines that are impervious to stain? This area is Minwax stain. I also tried some water based wood dye in another area with the same result. I believe the wood is white oak. Appreciate any help.
Using sapwood from pine?
What about it?
I split out a chunk from a pine log that I want to use for a stool seat. I’d like keep the whole width because it’s only 10â€, but that includes sapwood. I want to have final thickness at 2â€. Also, Will pine check: Should I seal the ends?
Lacquer help
What about it?
This is the only table that I’ve had do this. No matter what I’ve tried I can’t get the lacquer to go on flat or even on this top, it constantly comes out splotchy even after a good pad, I’ve turned my air pressure down and my fluid pressure up, I’ve tried spraying a lighter coat and I tried a heavier coat and it still won’t fix it, any advice would be appreciated.
Question on modular wall cabinets
What about it?
I wouldnt mind trying my hand at some Danish modular wall cabinets and I am trying to figure the best way of setting up the mounting hardware. It looks like holes on the rails are drilled at an angle. I am assuming there is some sort of dowel on the shelf side but wanted to see if anyone here knew how this is typically done or if there was some kind of metal hardware still available to do this.
Finally….some new (to me) toys!!!
What about it?
After years of working on an old Bosch 1000 job site saw, I snagged this beauty for a song at auction. While I was at it, decided to bump up my jointer game 2â€. Super stoked to get these on some bases (garage shop) and lined in to the rotary phase converter I ended up finding locally. Time to make alllllll the sawdust!
What could I make out of these?
What about it?
Currently repurposing some pallets into a butcher block desk top and these are my off cuts. Guy I got the pallets from suggested they were hardwood but the Steely Lumber Co. stamp that I’ve found on a couple of the pieces tells me they’re actually yellow pine.
They’re about 1â€x1†and 66†long and I’ve got ~50 of them. I know they’d make great kindling but I’d like to make something out of them rather than use them as firewood.
Anyone have any ideas? Inspirational links maybe?
Thanks in advance!
