Is there an actual laxative for cats?
What about it?
Asking because my senior (16 next month) boy is having some constipation issues. He's been to the vet. They ran all his blood work and it's fine. All levels of everything in the normal range - including glucose. He had been vomiting so they gave me Clavamox and he's taking it well - hasn't vomited since. That runs it's course on Saturday. They also hydrated him with an IV even though he's been obsessed with drinking water since I bought him a pet fountain 7 years ago. Since that addition he's drank more water than any cat I've ever seen - he is fascinated by the running water!
Anyway, he's tried to go twice this morning with no result. This "for hairballs but can also help them poop" stuff just doesn't seem to be cutting it. Plus it's hard to administer on my own. Putting it on his paw makes a mess of his paw and the surrounding area. Holding him with one arm, opening his jaws, and wiping it on the roof of his mouth results in most of it in his face. I don't have anyone to help with this process.
Bottom line...I'm really frustrated and I just want my boy to have a nice BM. Is there anything that will help us achieve that goal? Thank you all in advance! (Pic for attention)
