What is causing this on my toilet?
What about it?
I want to believe it’s hard water but my other toilet doesn’t have any problems like this one does. I’ve done two deep cleans on this toilet to restore it to a regular state but after a couple months it returns to this brown limescale like state. The red color is a new development. Is this a issue with the plumbing? I live in an apartment in Florida.
Water Hammer Arrestor Installation
What about it?
This is the orientation of the current installation.
I turned off the water while replacing a faucet. Turned it back on when completed, and now the dishwasher turns on but there is no water flowing to it.
Should the arrestor be pointing up?
Any suggestions?
I am a plumbing n00b. Thanks in advance.
Mansfield Toilet - Can’t Locate Model Number
What about it?
I need to replace the flush valve on my toilet. The little plastic disc at the top is cracked, which causes the toilet to keep running because the lever gets stuck “up†and has to be manually pushed down. Anyway! I was able to find the model number on the base (117) but when I try to search for parts it seems like there must be a separate model number for the tank, which I can’t find. There is an very faded, unreadable stamp under the “95†that you can see in the picture, but that’s all I can find.
Google results for model 117 brings me to a Mansfield Plumbing pdf for the Alto 117-160, which seems like the right thing to my untrained eye. If I order the flush valve for 160 will it be compatible?
Thanks very much for reading. This is my first DIY attempt in my first home and I don’t want to inadvertently cause a bigger issue by guessing.
New homeowner with stinky water.
What about it?
Purchased the home 6 months ago. About 2 weeks back the hot water in my shower started to smell funky, and it will gag you at this point. After a little research I figured it was the anode rod, but the heater isn't a year old so that didn't make sense. I drained it to 3/4 full, cut off the intake, and went to check the rod, only to find a spray foam? Is it normal for a new unit to not have an anode? And if so, how do I get one in here? I really appreciate any help I can get 😕
Adding a second sump pump.
What about it?
The little 1/3 HP pump I currently have keeps getting overwhelmed (quite badly), I want to add a more powerful secondary pump. The second pump I want to add needs a 2" discharge pipe (as opposed to the 1.5" in the pic). I've thought of a few ways to go about it but I was wondering if there's an obvious option that you guys know of. Replace the 4" wye with a double wye? How would I go about removing the old fitting? Thanks!
Water dripping from underneath out of faucet screws
What about it?
Hey guys, not a plumber at all but my mom's sink is leaking so I'm playing the part. Looks like we've got these screws here holding the faucet from underneath, the sink is one of those shitty porcelain ones you have to get behind to work on. I'm gonna just take stuff apart and see if anything looks messed up, but I'm curious if anyone experienced here knows right away from that symptom. Water drips down from the heads of these 2 screws
