Water Heater Leaking

What about it?

Water heater overflowed while we were out of town. There’s a little water on the slab below the cabinet, and the drain pan is totally full. Looks to me like the drain pipe is clogged, so the pan overflowed. I’m going to try to clean the line, but the pilot light went out and it’s out of commission. Is it safe to fire back up once it dries out? I don’t see any leaks anywhere off hand.

Valve dripping - is repacking required?

What about it?

Hello! Rookie homeowner here. This pipe leads to an outdoor water spigot. When I open the shut off valve seen in the picture, water will drip from the stem area. Is repacking required to fix this? Is this doable by me or is a plumber recommended? I currently leave it fully off unless I need to use the spigot, but that’s not very convenient. Also our of curiosity, why would there be a second shut off valve a little to the left on the same line? Thanks all.

What is causing this on my toilet?

What about it?

I want to believe it’s hard water but my other toilet doesn’t have any problems like this one does. I’ve done two deep cleans on this toilet to restore it to a regular state but after a couple months it returns to this brown limescale like state. The red color is a new development. Is this a issue with the plumbing? I live in an apartment in Florida.

Water Hammer Arrestor Installation

What about it?

This is the orientation of the current installation. I turned off the water while replacing a faucet. Turned it back on when completed, and now the dishwasher turns on but there is no water flowing to it. Should the arrestor be pointing up? Any suggestions? I am a plumbing n00b. Thanks in advance.

Mansfield Toilet - Can’t Locate Model Number

What about it?

I need to replace the flush valve on my toilet. The little plastic disc at the top is cracked, which causes the toilet to keep running because the lever gets stuck “up” and has to be manually pushed down. Anyway! I was able to find the model number on the base (117) but when I try to search for parts it seems like there must be a separate model number for the tank, which I can’t find. There is an very faded, unreadable stamp under the “95” that you can see in the picture, but that’s all I can find. Google results for model 117 brings me to a Mansfield Plumbing pdf for the Alto 117-160, which seems like the right thing to my untrained eye. If I order the flush valve for 160 will it be compatible? Thanks very much for reading. This is my first DIY attempt in my first home and I don’t want to inadvertently cause a bigger issue by guessing.

New homeowner with stinky water.

What about it?

Purchased the home 6 months ago. About 2 weeks back the hot water in my shower started to smell funky, and it will gag you at this point. After a little research I figured it was the anode rod, but the heater isn't a year old so that didn't make sense. I drained it to 3/4 full, cut off the intake, and went to check the rod, only to find a spray foam? Is it normal for a new unit to not have an anode? And if so, how do I get one in here? I really appreciate any help I can get 😕
