Do you think Jaime should have become such an incopetent fighter?

What about it?

I know nothing of sword fighting, so I'm probably wrong, but I felt Jaime going from top 3 best fighters in the realm, to getting beat up by Ilyn Payne kind of forced. That moment in season 5, when he catches a sword with his golden hand, made me think that he could have adapted more, used a shild on his right hand, and try other tactics, kinda like Quorin HalfHand did in the end of his life. I do think from a story perpective it makes sense, but I always come to this. OBS: sorry for my english, I'm out of practice

Why do people say Daenerys having no reaction was the first “sign”?? When this is how other main characters react to things🫠.
