How can I add color to my room? (Layout just for reference, not accurate)

What about it?

So I still live with my parents, and my room needs a complete redo. It's got all the shit from my whole life and I'm 22. It doesn't really scream "I'm trying to become an adult" but instead "I want to be a boy and live with mom forever." I've already decluttered once, and I'm about to completely purge it. Next to my bed is a shelf that runs the full length of my bed, and it is filled with a bunch of stuff that doesn't go together. In between my door and my desk is a closet and a TV that would make r/TVtoohigh crucify me lol. Anyway, here's the problem: I love the modern/contemporary looks, and the grayscale is easy on the eyes, but I'd like to add color to it. I've never worked with color pallettes or done any interior design. Are there any tips you all could give so I can make my room more sleek and clean, modern, but not... bleak?

Two years living alone after starting with literally nothing. Feels like home.

Rest of the house is unsightly, but I'm proud of my little desk space I've carved out.

Tall accent chairs suggestions

What about it?

I’m looking for some accent chairs to fill some space in my living room, I’m quite tall so I’d prefer something with a little more back support. Any suggestions? I’m looking for something kinda like the ikea poańg chair for reference but maybe a little higher end

Visited family in MD, went to a local winery and met the owner who invited me over to his place for a few drinks. This was his downstairs study that I thought was quite neat.

Ignore the mess, but are there any similar bookcases to this?

What about it?

It’s particle board and was bought by my grandfather in the 1970’s/1980’s. I had a major aquarium leak on it and ruin it. I love the amount of storage space it has, and ideally am looking for something solid wood or another material that won’t have the same issue if it gets wet.
