Help with a MOC?

What about it?

I made this little ship to go with my Eldorado Fortress, but I don’t want the stripes on that sail. How do I bleach it white? I already tried regular bleach but now it just smells like a fresh pool. Any other household chemicals I can use? I don’t want to paint it because I want that Lego sail texture and not painted paper texture.
