The way I tried to explain to my mom I wanted to watch cartoons when I was little

So part of this may be attributed to how English is my second language, but I was probably 3, maybe 4, but this memory is really engrained into my memory due to how frustrating it was. I wanted to watch cartoons, probably Arthur on PBS Kids, but I didn’t know what the word for cartoon or animation was, but I remembered all cartoons had this line around the characters (the outline) so I kept trying to explain to my mother that I wanted to watch the moving black lines. When she got confused (obviously), I kept telling her I wanted to see the thing where the black lines were around the people, which made her even more confused. It’s probably one of my core memories of when I gained a consciousness that I got frustrated.
