Update - I used the crumb layer on my fully piped cake
I found this #1 pan at the thrift store and was inspired for my son's first birthday 😊 I've never iced a cake in my life but watched 100 videos to prepare. I did a trial run with flat icing on the sides and it was a fail. This was trial #2 with fully piped sides.
Issues
1. Food colouring turned way darker than expected
2. I did not cover the cake in the fridge and the icing tasted a bit like "fridge".
3. Buttercream was melting from my hands as I was piping and I had to put it into the fridge a lot
How much would you charge for these?
I made them for a coworker's birthday and another coworker asked if I could make two dozen of the same cookies for her daughter's birthday next week. It's been so long since I've baked anything for money and I don't want to overcharge a work friend. Thanks in advance!
Ideas on what to make with chocolate chips that melted? 😅
I foolishly ordered some chocolate chips online in this insane heat so they melted and now hardened into big chocolate bricks. Any ideas what to make? I was thinking peanut butter cups or brownies, but what else can I make with melted chocolate?
Happy Hurricane!
Kiddo had the day off from school, so we practiced in the kitchen today. He’s 3 so this was still mostly me, but I’m happy to have had an excuse to try baking with him.
Triple chocolate fudge cake w/ funfetti layer frosting & vanilla frosting (mix & canned frosting - see aforementioned toddler).
Note that we are in central FL and we’re fortunately we’ll out of the way of the storm. My heart is with all my neighbors in the direct path.
