Is this dress formal enough for “Black Tie Requested
My boyfriend & I decided last minute to attend a Black Tie Requested wedding in less than 20 days ... and as a 5'1" woman, I'm spiraling a bit trying to find a formal + long enough dress to wear.
l just ordered this dress from Abercrombie & Fitch in two sizes ... and didn't order petite in hopes that it will be slightly longer on me, as Google & Pinterest have me convinced that I need a long*ish* dress. I'll have to get new shoes for this wedding anyway, so I figure I will decide on heel height once I am settled into a dress. Here's a link to the dress if anyone is curious: https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/us/p/ one-shoulder-pleated-maxi-dress-53584320? faceout=model&seg=03
**All that said, is this dress "formal" enough?** I don't know the couple at all, & my boyfriend is a bit surprised it's black tie so I think this is a happy medium between a cocktail + formal dress. The couple’s wedding website reads, “WHAT DOES BLACK TIE REQUESTED MEAN? Tuxes and formal gowns are highly encouraged, however, suits are also welcomed! We can't wait to see how great you look!â€
I plan to pair with a 2-6 inch stiletto depending on where the dress hits on me (I won’t go clunky) + a simple clutch.
Thoughts?
I went through Lulu's already & while they have a lot of options, I have a big tattoo on my thigh I'd like keep covered & it seems like all their formal long dresses have slits that show the left thigh. I also went through Rent The Runway, & they don't have any options I'm thrilled about given the late notice.
Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you! 💕
wedding help
hello! going to my partners cousins wedding in 3 days. i have never been to a wedding. i have not been given a dress code unfortunately, and when he asked his sister it was “dress and heels†which isn’t the most helpful. i want to wear this dress, what is an appropriate cover up i can wear with this incase it’s cold? also, thinking of wearing a platform sandal type shoe with this as i don’t know how to walk in heels. is this okay? thanks in advance for any advice!
"Cocktail" in Washington, DC
Is this beaded-tassel dress too over-the-top for "cocktail" in DC? It seems as though the only clothes I don't have packed away in storage since my move are either too glam or too casual... Help. (And yes, I deleted the real background and randomly replaced it with one of DC, so the inside of my house isn't on display, lol.)
