At first I thought it was a clump of cut grass but then it moved. I'm thinking it's a slug of sorts? Also, sorry the photo isn't better I'm too much of a wimp to get closer.. I'm in North Carolina

What beetle is this?

Hey all I found what looks like a beetle of sorts in my shirt. I felt what I thought was lint or I’m not sure what in my shirt. lifted to take a closer look and it was this crawling I’m not sure if it bites but I think it was under there all days. Can anyone please identify this beetle??? Or at least I hope it is. I live in queens.
