Owner told me I couldn’t unlock their car

After fixing a nasty electrical issue today on a certain Korean car the owner told me he had his “recall” done so his car can’t be stolen now. Well, no. Five seconds, locks popped and the supposed software immobilizer they installed was as defeated. Could have pulled a usb start on it right after that. Challenge accepted.

Found a wild 10 mm this morning inside a Prius. I hope to nurture it & give it a good home until it's ready to be released back into the wild.

Boss got an auction Lincoln Aviator, asked if I could change his low beam that was out..

I restored his headlights too. Originally these cars came with fancy and (2005) expensive HIDs. Whoever had this car previous did a bit of clean wiring, I will give them that, to the rest of the car. Running power off a seat motor for aftermarket stereos, extra audio connections and all that fuzz. Originally at least what I could find online was there was a connector that connected to the HID. This person shoved it away, cutting up the wires, hooking them to a standard Sylvania halogen and called it a day. The wiring corroded out. I don't have an after image because I was in a rush to get back to work. I ran down to NAPA and got a bulb and the salesman let me know of a fancy connector I could just wire in. (GM wired connector for headlights, Part #: ECH LS6533, just incase any wayward souls need it )After a bit of heat shrink and crimping. He now has a bulb he can at least replace when the time comes without worrying about stuff like this. Total plug n play! And because it's reddit, lemme answer some stuff before I get on with it. Q: why didn't you just use the stock HID? A: Last minute repair. I'm used to de-hillbillyfying stuff like this and trying to do it at least proper with some hindsight. Halogen was cheaper and on hand, also my boss didn't want me fussing with it. Other side is halogen and was actually properly converted. Not sure why this one wasnt Q: did you get paid? A: I always charge for my work yes. Even if I'm working for my boss. Q: that won't align properly, how did you get it aligned? A: oh the wonders you can do with duct tape. It works fine, he can see fine on the road for the next few years now. Q: why not just buy all new headlights? A: I know this one will be asked by some. I've seen these go for a $1000 for a new set. No freaking joke! Q: why did your boss buy an auction car? A: he got it for a $1000. I don't judge the man, I understand though. Beats walkin. Q: why doesn't your boss do it? Or pay a shop? A: he doesn't know jack about modern cars. I'm sure a shop would see him coming a mile away and charge him our entire tiny company into bankruptcy if they could. Q: oh my god! Won't that cause a fire! A: the above pictured is NOT my handiwork. Rather a before picture, I completely forgot the after picture. I don't think my boss would enjoy if I said "hey let me take apart your headlight again for a pic! The Internet wants to see my end job!" Whoever owned this car previous did this. If you happen to look at this confused or need a bulb asap for a Lincoln Aviator from 2005. If you get a OEM recommended bulb from Napa (I believe I used Part #: LMP BP1255H11N (H11)) quickly wire on the Part #: ECH LS6533 headlight connector. If it's a pinch you can use zip ties or duct tape to align the headlight. It won't be a perfect fit, because it won't have the plastic pieces holding it and locking it into place. But if you can at least pinch that wire down and ziptie/duct tape after a quick little alignment. You'll be good to go. At most it'll cost you around $40 per headlight if you go the NAPA way. Im sure you can find a cheaper solution at AutoZone or your local auto shop (even rock auto). Buy before it's needed and you'll never need to shell out the $40 when you are broke!
