October Wedding in California - Appropriate?

I am going to a wedding in California in October. I am looking at dresses and have seen posts about this dress and there is something about it that I love!!! I have a similar body type to the model in the photos, but short (5'2). The dress code for the wedding is Semi Formal but it's at a beautiful elegant value. Another thing is I don't know anyone but my partner at this wedding. I haven't met this side of the family and I want to make a good impression.
