Rare Kriss Vector in Iraq

Inherited firearm with scrubbed S/N

As the title states I just inherited a firearm with a scrubbed serial from a deceased relative. The gun is a pre-war 1911 possibly 1917/18 based on my limited knowledge. Is there anyway I can recover the S/N? I can only make out the letter N. Also has anyone else been in this situation? What are some issues I may face? It's a neat piece of history and I would like to try and find more info on it.

Got a Ca. compliant JTE-15 from Juggernaut Tactical. It's heavy as hell compared to our Saint Victor. Haven't even put a round through it yet. Anyone have any pros vs. cons on these rifles?
