The dress I picked as a guest to a Semi-formal,vaguely fairy core/ art nouveau-themed wedding
Dearest outfit advisors,
As the caption implies, I chose this dress via a late-night decision in an attempt to find something fey-realm and fanciful but reception-friendly.
We have been instructed that dress code is “ wear what makes you happy- wear whatever you like â€, but I have a deep rooted fear of being “too much†at someone else’s occasion. The couple to wed is rooted in what some could classify as “cottagecoreâ€.
The embroidery in the dress reflects more green in the photos reviewers have left. The frame of the dress also appears to lay more flat with assistance from a petticoat, a choice on an August day that I will refrain from.
The venue is at a nicer cabin/lodge in the mountains/forest.
I am 5’9â€, 155lb, olive complexion with black hair past my shoulders. I normally dress in a modern-ren-meets-corporate aesthetic and wanted to highlight my personal style but haven’t been to a wedding in years.
I appreciate your insight!
Is a Loud color + longer dress okay for a Nov cocktail attire wedding?
My wonderful partner will be officiating a wedding for a couple who we are great friends with. I got this dress a few months back and a sample sale and was planning on wearing it to their wedding. I’m a bit worried the color is too summery (not sure how much this matters, no color palette given). We received the dress code recently and it was listed as ‘cocktail’ attire with a link to nordstroms guide on cocktail attire for a wedding.
second try for semi formal “colorful and classyâ€
based on feedback from this sub i went out and (somewhat frantically) shopped for a different dress for a wedding i’m attending this weekend, and i’m so glad i did because i found this gorgeous dress and fell in love! it was the only one of this style in the store and happened to be in my size, so it was meant to be! can’t wait to wear it!!
