Early October Wedding
I have a wedding for a college friend in Minneapolis in October. The dress code said “black tie†but when I asked the groom he said it’s more just so his family doesn’t wear jeans. He said the girls standing in the wedding are wearing “Cabernet†color - mix of dresses and suits from what I can tell. I asked two other female attendees what they plan to wear - one is wearing a formal dark green pantsuit and the other is wearing a long tiered lace burgundy dress. I’d like to reuse this dress from a past bridesmaid stint… is this appropriate? Too Christmas-y for October?
Tuxedo dress?
This suits my personal style much more than a sparkly long gown, and I know I will get multiple wears out of it. I plan on wearing a black slip underneath, so the sides will not be exposed skin.
My concerns are:
- Length. The model is 9†taller than me, but it falls just above the knee on me.
- White lapels. Is that permitted?
Thoughts please?
Thanks!
How to style/accessorize this gown for my sister’s wedding this weekend!
I’m doing a reading and making a toast for my baby sister’s wedding this coming Saturday.
I’ll be escorted in by my husband after the mother of the groom, my mom is giving my sister away, and hubby and I helped raise my sister, so she’s treating us as her extra parents, we’re part of the wedding party in that regard- and more dressed up than a regular guest, if that makes sense, lol.
Anyway, I’m wearing this fishtail gown and I can’t decide on shoes/jewelry/bag. I was thinking gold jewelry, so would a gold bag and shoes be too much?
The wedding is at a fancy farm, lol. It’s inside and outside. They don’t have a dress code, but I would say it’s formal, not black tie though.
The dress comes with a black belt that is worn under the bust, not at the waist. I don’t have to wear it, but I kind of like it. My daughter and sister said I could maybe get a different belt to match my accessories if I wanted, so that could be an option, too.
I also need a shawl for the night portion- ceremony is at 4:30, wedding ends at midnight.
I’m terrible with styling myself- please help! Gown is pictured- it’s a Norma Kamali fishtail gown. In black.
Is this appropriate for a (nice) backyard reception?
I’m trying to decide it this will work. I’m mid-30s. The dress code in the email invite says “cocktail or semi-formalâ€. It’s a 4-10pm backyard wedding reception (no ceremony) in early September. It may be a bit fancier than the usual backyard reception - it’s a beautiful location and there will be a DJ, dance floor, and open bar. Temperature still start in the mid-80s and drop to high-70s by 10pm (and be very, very humid). I will probably wear black flats because it’s hard to wear heels on grass. I would usually not wear thin straps like this, but I feel like it might be okay in this situation. What do do we think?
Cocktail/ Semi-Formal October KC MO
Trying to style similar to my husband with outfit. Invite says “Normal Wedding Dress or cocktail/semi-formalâ€. Wedding venue google pics review is highly variable styles. Not close enough to bride/groom to ask. I’m solidly plus sized and looking for something that will be comfortable with my body type. Blue/yellow/cream is the preferred color scheme and I’m only seeing limited options seem available. Dress is from ASOS.
Dress code help
Please help, invite says “dressy casual/ semi formal†website says “Semi-Formal: Tuxes and gowns are welcome, and so are suits and cocktail dresses.†This seems like 3 different dress codes to me??
Wedding is in alabama in November
Does this work? I think the material might be too casual
