First attempt at smooth buttercream

Made a 3 layer chocolate cake, with vanilla buttercream, and birthday cake crumbles for SIL birthday. All my precious cakes have been the “naked” style, so attempting the smooth buttercream was fun!

Cookies are my nemesis

I consider myself a decent baker. I can make bread and cake and a bunch of other stuff. I rock a cinnamon bun. But I don't think I've ever made good cookies. They elude me completely. Every couple years I forget that I suck at cookies and try again. They never work out. I followed a very simple recipe for these tonight and got this result. Can you tell what went wrong so I can maybe learn for next time? They're supposed to be multiple oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, not the one lump of something you see pictures.
