How do I get a stuck router bit out of a collet chuck?

I just got a new bosch router and this is the second time I've gotten a router bit stuck in the collet chuck. I've tried knocking it loose by using just about every suggestion online and it budged a little, but now it is completely locked in. I've already accepted the fact that I will be buying a new collet chuck since this one was pretty much destroyed in the process. How do I in the future prevent this from happening again? I also had a very hard time removing the chuck from the shaft of the router, am I just tightening the chuck to tight?

Question about veneer

Hi there, I bought Some Ikea tables and the walnut veneer is way lighter than the other walnut veneer items i have in my home. Is it possible to get the Same darker tone using staining? Thanks in advance!

Router tip

This is how you want to tighten and loosen router bits. Flip the larger wrench for a smaller space between them when loosening. 1, It keeps you from over-tightening. 2, It allows total control when loosening, even if the collet nut is stuck pretty good. I always only use the spindle lock for finger tightening while raising the bit a few mm so it just grabs the bit before I use the wrenches.

The chisel work on this soft pine was a bit of a headache. Are hardwoods easier to chisel cut without the grain wanting to collapse or tear?

How to get spot out of island?

Hi all, We had a ring form on our island and my gf attempted to scrub it out with the rough side of a sponge, and now we have a ring AND this ugly pale spot. Is there anything we can do to fix this, or at least make it less noticeable? We just got this house and now it’s all I see when I go into the kitchen and it’s driving me absolutely mad. Any help is appreciated.

Job help

Quick sketch of my ideas. I am looking to build a floating computer desk with a pull out for the keyboard/mouse. Are there any reasonably priced $75) under mount slides that feature a push to open and lock in the fully extended position? Is there another DIY way to form a lock. I don’t want the keyboard platform to move when extended, but I also have a small space so I need it to be retractable. I’m expecting 10” of extension past the desk top. So slides would need to be 12” full extension. Second concern, how can I mount this, I should have 2 studs in the location. I was considering two L brackets to slot into the desk. Would a 5”x 10” bracket support the weight of a monitor/console, and the desk built out of oak ply (working surfaces) and pine or poplar (panted bottom structure)? Thanks for any help.
