Sink drains into sump
So I have a mess of plumbing for my kitchen sink and sump pump. the sink currently drains into the sump pumps dry well. obviously this needs to be fixed and connected to the septic long term but I have a short term question.
The sink drains all the way into the sump untill the pump comes on to pump it out (I can watch the water flow in when the sink is on).
should some kind of check valve be added to stop that from happening? is the white part in the vertical sump line a check valve that doesn't work?
thanks in advance
Help with floor drain backflow
Hello Citizens of Reddit,
I am in need of some advice here. I have a corroded floor drain that you see in the picture.
This drain in my basement seems to back flow under extremely heavy rain. It has caused some water damage as a result.
1. I would like to prevent water from coming back up, so I bought a back flow preventer and try to replace the drain cover with it. Can any of you folks think of a better solution to this issue?
2. In an effort to try to take off the existing cover, I scraped away some of the flooring to reveal more of the drain cover. This appears to be a cast iron cover that was cemented down. Before I take an angle grinder to the cement surrounding this cover, I would like to see if there are other solutions that could be less destructive. I can foresee the angle grinder solution going very wrong. Any advice would be appreciated!
