I will kick you if you don't answer me

Saw this huge fly and thought it was a small cicada at first. About 2/3 the size of one. Looks almost like a Horse Fly, but I've never seen one with that gap between the eyes and those iridescent triangles on the abdomen. Spotted in Northern MD.

Had many of these ants in a back bedroom window area and never knew if they were carpenter ants or regular black ants (Western Pennsylvania)

They seemed to be smaller than what I thought Carpenter ants were, and no wood to be seen as my walls are plaster and lathe. Went totally away once I patched loose plaster. Not the best pics but any guesses?

Please help w understanding what these are and why they seem to be fighting. Came out of nowhere and seems like an annual thing in a few clusters in the lawn. Buffalo, NY taken this week. Thank you all!

Found in a trash can

Midwest USA - found these while cleaning an elderly relative's house. They were stuck to a trash can lid, both inside and out. There were definitely gnats or some other small winged insects flying around, too. I'm guessing they're not uncommon - just want to make sure they're not something where I need to immediately jump in a tub of disinfectant or something. There are also pets in the household.
