Can anyone explain why this is brilliant/a winning move?

I knew this was the right move in the moment, but when I look at what the next moves should look like, it’s just exd4 which is what black plays. I ended up winning this game but I feel like there’s an easy checkmate early on here. Could anyone shed some light on this for me?

Why would Black play this?

I was playing computer and it played this move and I mated in 2. But for life of me I can't figure out why it would move the defender. Is there actually any tactic I am missing?
