Hi reddit ! Is this dress appropriate for a wedding ?

It's for my boyfriends half sisters wedding. They're not super prude and I would stitch the slit so it wouldn't go as high. My boyfriend showed his mom and he told me she said the dress was beautiful but im still not certain. Thank you

Black-tie optional gala?

Hi all, Looking for some feedback on a gown for a black-tie optional gala. While I’m not opposed to “doing it up,” the gala is for a children’s charity and I’m trying to have some fun with my attire. My SO will be wearing a tux. Thanks in advance!

Closed toe black flats shoes for bridesmaid?

Hi all! Struggling to find a nice formal black flat with a closed toe to wear as a bridesmaid this November. My dress is a wrap style so the shoes are extremely visible. I am 9 inches taller than the bride and most of the bridal party so I am electing to wear flats, although I could likely do a very low block heel as well. It’s a forest venue with a “fairytale meets art deco” vibe and I’m not sure which route to take. You guys always have the best suggestions - HELP! Looking to spend ideally no more than $50 but could go to $100.

I wore the dress everyone told me not to

A few months ago I came to this sub asking if this dress was too fancy for the dress code. I got a slew of comments about it being inappropriate because of the cleavage and a few comments about the dress being unflattering. Some people even said it was attention-seeking and I would be pulling attention away from the bride. I wore the dress. Literally no one at this small-ish reception batted an eye, there were other guests similarly dressed and I received many compliments. All this to say, maybe ask questions about wedding vibe before absolutely roasting the people who are posting. It’s not hard to be kind.
