I have a gorgeous piece of rainbow Poplar currently smoothing it down for a table top. It really sucks. I can’t put a finish on. That won’t keep these really cool colors.
Like I said, I’m building a table top so far me and my Stanley 4 1/2 are keeping busy. I was thinking about using a UV spar varnish as a surface. Would that be OK?
Did I Learn a Valuable Lesson On My First Project?
I grabbed what appeared to be matching pieces of wood at Lowe’s marked “white woodâ€. After staining, the top and bottom shelves look different enough in color to stand out. I used the same stain and process for both pieces (actually did 3 coats on top vs 2 on bottom to try and even up a bit). Does anyone with an eye for this kind of thing have any thoughts? Could they be different species of tree that still fall under “white woodâ€?
Just got a new apartment with Parquet wood floors and it squeaks in a spot. Can I ignore it?
Just got a new place and the floor is beautiful, but in the corner of the room the parquet is squeaky in some spots. Can I ignore it or it has to be fixed?
If so - any tips on how to fix it?
How to connect this joint?
Hey guys, so I’m trying to make a pitched roof for a dollhouse and I’m trying to find a sturdy way of connecting these beveled cuts.
I’ve been using a Kreg jig for the rest of the structure but it seems it won’t work well for this joint. Should I try and freehand pocket holes or simply glue and use brads?
