I have a 5 month (we think)old kitten she’s a rescue and I adopted her a month ago , she was deworm before we adopted her and test negative for leukemia, she has a microchip implanted, now she had a bad eye but she can see and a lump that feels like three on the side on her neck (submandibular area) and we went to the vet and the vet told us that she is to little so she doesn’t think is cancer , probably what’s causing the infection of the eye is causing the lump this was the official diagnosis: feline viral rhinotracheitis
She send her some eye drops (tobrex three times a day in both eyes) and some pills ( doxycare 40mg half a pill once a day) now my cat it’s feeling good she’s always been good eating and playing but now the lumps have grown have an appointment for next Wednesday but I don’t If waiting that much is ok I don’t want to change vets cuz all the five months the vet is the one who has been treating her , can someone help me or explain me a little more what could it be
Newly adopted long haired cat- how do I help her?
I adopted a long haired cat yesterday. 4 years old, declawed by previous owner. I suspect that they stopped taking care of her- she’s underweight and I noticed that she had flecks like this all over her fur. There are also a few knots about the size of a peanut on some areas of her body.
I don’t know what to do for her or how to read her behavior. Yesterday, she was very cuddly and sweet, engaging with me actively and settling for pets in my lap. Today, however, she’s been the opposite. She’s been meowing or low growling and walking around rubbing her side/back against tables and on the floor. She’ll then come up to me and rub on my leg but doesn’t want to be pet as she hisses when I try. I tried brushing her gently and she would run away then come back then run again. She would roll onto her back and squirm a few times but not let me brush her tummy. Finally, the last time I brushed her side she accepted it until it got caught on one of those knots. She bit the brush and ran to hide.
I can’t tell what she needs. Is she still just getting used to the environment? Is she itchy? Do I need to try to give her a bath? Do I try to brush her again? I have a grooming appointment scheduled but not for another two weeks as that’s the soonest I can get her in.
I just don’t know how to interpret what’s going on, especially since she shifted overnight
My cat is getting declawed
My cat is getting declawed and I don't get a say in it. He's around 6 months old, and when we get him fixed, he's probably getting declawed as well. My step mom says she couldn't have nice things before this (she had 4 boys, all of which were chaotic as kids, and a cat.) He clawed this one thing she had (don't know what it was) it wasn't bad, but now she's pissed, and is getting him declawed. It's so cruel, I don't want him to suffer at all. I get why she's upset, and I know how frustrating it can be, but she's dead set on declawing. It is LITERALLY ILLEGAL in some countries. Is there anything I can do to help convince her to give him time to grow out of it? Or make her realize how cruel it is? I'm only 15, and because of that, I basically don't get a say in it, as much as I've been objecting to it. My grandparents cat started biting after he got declawed, and he's a mean, asshole cat now.
