Work Schedule for new hires

So I was hired at Walmart this Thursday on the 7th. I stayed a little longer that day to finish my training even though I was given it the option to finish it tomorrow. Besides that, my peoples lead when I asked them when I could start, she told me I could come in this Saturday, but when I came to check my schedule, I wasn’t listed to be scheduled on Saturday. In fact, I wasn’t scheduled to work for more than three weeks from now? Should I call them and tell them the situation? Should I still go in today? How can they possibly put a new hires start day so far away? Wouldn’t it be best to schedule my work in the immediate coming days since I’ll need the training? What should I do?
