Possible centipede that crawls backwards in central Texas?

Hey y’all! I live on some land just outside of Austin, TX and I found this guy crawling outside our house. My toddler spends so much time outside, so I want to see if it’s something to warn him away from. When I put a stick in front of it, it started crawling backwards! Any ideas?? Thank you in advance.

Just moved to the rural south from Philly.. The bugs down here are a different breed!! Why do they all have neck tattoos and smoke newport 100’s? These two also seem to be exhibitionists.
